Our bespoke rugs are sustainable at their core. Crafted entirely from virgin sheep wool, every stage of production and washing is carried out by hand, following traditional rug-making techniques.
This ensures our clients receive a healthy, high-quality product — free from chemicals and harmful substances — while also minimizing environmental impact.
Beyond materials and process, we also support local communities with the work we create — especially women — by paying our artisans fairly, ensuring they are respected and valued too
The beginning
Founder Steven Bruggeman's passion for design began long before Knuup. A trip to Morocco sparked a fascination with the region's Amazigh (or Berber) rugs, their textures, colors, and stories. What started as inspiration grew into a curated platform for high-quality rugs.
As interest grew, clients began asking for variations — different sizes, colorways, or personalized details. In response, we launched our bespoke rug service, allowing each rug to be tailored to the unique taste and space of its owner
In a world where everything is fast and mass-produced, we intentionally return to a manual craft where each rug is given the time it deserves to be created.
