Meet Ziri, which means Moonshine in Berber. This Beni Ouarain rug has soft and dense wool. The white wool contrasts beautifully with the black weaving. When you look up close, you’ll also notice subtle light blue lines integrated in the weaving. This is a more contemporary interpretation of the classic Beni Ouarain.
This new made rug is 100% ethically sourced, straight from a women-led cooperative that uses the finest quality of wool.
Beni Ouarain rugs were initially created by a confederation of 17 Berber tribes in the Middle Atlas mountains of Morocco. The rugs were created to keep them warm in the harsh weather conditions in the mountains. The sheep that are raised here on high altitude produce an extra soft and dense wool.
Moroccan rugs were initially made for personal use. They were meant to last for decades and often handed down from generation to generation. This level of craftmanship could take up to weeks or even months to complete a single rug. Every piece is unique. The new rugs are still created using the same traditional techniques.
Please note | These items are handmade and may have small imperfections in shape, weaving or pattern, this adds to its authenticity and character and shows you have a genuine Berber rug before you.
