Meet Tadla, this vintage Beni Ouarain rug with a beautiful plush feel. The cream wool is beautifully complemented with different shades of brown. Also notice the hints of orange in the symbols. It's a character piece with a luxurious vintage feel that would fit well in a neutral interior or in a vintage interior with brown wood.
Beni Ouarain rugs were created by a confederation of 17 Berber tribes in the Middle Atlas mountains of Morocco. The rugs were made to keep them warm in the harsh weather conditions in the mountains during winter. Not only to warm the floors but also as beds and heavy blankets. The sheep that are raised here on high altitude produce an extra soft and dense wool.
Moroccan rugs were initially made for personal use. They were meant to last for decades and often handed down from generation to generation. This level of craftmanship could take up to weeks or even months to complete a single rug. The design is a combination of traditional Amazigh symbols with the interpretation and imagination of the weaver. Every piece is unique.
Please note | Vintage items may show slight signs of wear or fading. These are a part of each items’ unique history and add to its authenticity and character. Anything of note is included in the listing and pictures. All rugs are cleaned and if needed repaired before leaving Morocco.
Please do not hesitate to ask for more details on a specific rug.
