This vintage Azilal runner has a cream base with a strong graphic pattern. It features black, dark brown, light blue, azul and a touch of indigo. It has a nice thick and fluffy feel. Notice the subtle change in use of colour in the middle. It’s a unique piece and in excellent condition.
Azilal rugs are usually quite vibrant, colourful, and are always in the mood to make a bold statement.
Moroccan rugs were initially made as functional pieces for personal use. These rugs were meant to last for decades and often handed down from generation to generation. The design is a combination of traditional Amazigh symbols with the interpretation and imagination of the weaver. Each piece is unique. This level of craftmanship could take up to weeks or even months to complete a single rug.
