This Marmoucha rug has extremely soft wool, making it nice and fluffy. The natural colour of the wool is complemented with black lines. This is timeless Berber design in its purest form. New made Marmoucha rugs tend to have a long pile length, which results in a soft and luxurious feel.
For this new made rug, we donate 5% of proceeds to the High Atlas Foundation in Morocco.
Marmoucha is the name of a small tribe that neighbours the more widely known Beni Ouarain tribes.
Moroccan rugs were initially made for personal use. They were meant to last for decades and often handed down from generation to generation. This level of craftmanship could take up to weeks or even months to complete a single rug. Every piece is unique. The new rugs are still created using the same traditional techniques.
