Rugs provide texture and character to your space. They can really tie the different elements in a room together and are often the missing link to make your interior feel complete.

When looking for the right rug, you sometimes just know what will fit perfectly. You go for the buy and you live happily ever after. Other times you’re not completely sure what would work best and that’s ok too.

To help you out, here are 2 things to keep in mind when choosing a rug:

Size matters

Choosing the right rug size is equally important as finding a rug you love. New made rugs often follow the more common sizes. Vintage rugs can sometimes have a more particular size, however it's often possible to work around that too.

The best tip is to visually lay out the contours of the rug on the floor. You can use anything you have at hand ranging from a meter, rope, to even spaghetti sticks if you like. This will help you visually align where the rug will be. It will help you assess the size of the rug in your space with regards to your furniture and everything else.

Style matters

Do I want certain colours to complement my furniture? Or vice versa?
Do I want to make a statement or do I want it to blend in?

Not sure or can't figure this out on your own?
